So far we don’t know what we’re doing with our little plot of land, but we do like to garden. And I’m a little too in love with my herb garden. It’s a hot mess, as in, despite planting instructions on tags, I snugged it into a small spot and I’m learning my lesson. But, I’ll tell you what, I’m kind of glad I did. Just like people, when you crowd and put pressure on herbs they will show you who they really are. Bully? Sissy? Shy? Tolerant? Well, you really get to know their true selves when they’re shoulder to shoulder. For example, I have a bully. Her name is Feverfew. She looks sweet and dainty but has barfed little daisy-like flowers all over my yard now and despite being cute and useful, she’s no longer my favorite.
It’s dangerous to fall in love with a new herb. You don’t know what they’re really like.
